Wasp Nests Removal in Mansfield
Wasps can be regarded as beneficial during the spring and early summer as workers collect insect larvae, which helps to control insect pests. However, towards the end of the summer they can become a nuisance when worker wasps start to search for sweet foods. It is a wasp’s ability to cause painful stings that concerns most people and unlike bees, wasps can be very aggressive and sting several times. Because of the dangers involved protective clothing is extremely important when dealing with a wasp nest. A single queen wasp begins building a nest in early spring. A nest can eventually house more than 20,000 wasps. The queen starts this process by laying up to eight eggs in a small comb. The queen produces this by foraging for wood fibres which she chews and combines with saliva to form new layers of the nest. After four to six weeks the first workers hatch and continue to build the nest while the queen continues to lay eggs and increase the wasp population. By the end of the summer, a large nest will have been formed containing both male and female workers, together with a number of new queens. With the onset of cold weather the nest dies out; never to be reused again. Once the new queens have exited the nest they will find a location to hibernate over the winter. The queens emerge in the spring and the life cycle begins again.
Wasp Nest Treatment in Mansfield
Wasp nests are frequently located in loft spaces, cavity walls, flower beds, garden sheds, hedges, roof eaves and in the ground. Wasp Nest Removal Mansfield employs a variety of methods to destroy a wasp nest depending on where it is located. A professional use only dust is the normal method of application which is carried to the queen and kills off the colony within hours. Due of the dangers involved in dealing with wasp nests personal protective clothing is always worn, a quick action knock down spray is carried and for confined spaces such as in a loft, extension lances are used.
Wasps can be extremely protective of their nest and if threatened can attack in large numbers. Without a full bee suit it is possible to receive large numbers of stings.

Bees in Mansfield
We also cover Bee nest removal. Honey bees can occasionally be removed and if possible re-located depending on ease of access. If this is not possible, and the nest needs to be treated, every care must be taken to prevent cross contamination of other colonies locally, and to prevent any risk of the chemicals used from entering the food chain. This will involve either removing the honey or sealing the entry points to the nest. Please Note:- Honey Bees will require an additional visit to proof the entrance to the nest. Timing is crucial and any treatment must be carried out when other bees are not foraging. As such 2 or 3 visits are required. Please ring for help and advice if you believe you have a problem with honey bees.
